The Ramapo Mountains with its rolling terrain set the scene for the town of Oakland.  Route 202 (AKA Ramapo Valley Road), which is one of the country's first trading routes used by Native Americans, runs along the Ramapo River where historic homes and horse farms dot the roadside.  The Ramapo River Reserve community was built along the Ramapo River.

Oakland's center of town has a downtown shopping area and easy access to Routes 208 & 287.  Access to Route 287, Route 17, Route 202, and the NY Thruway as well as public bus transportation allow for a convenient commute to New York City and local international airports - JFK, Newark, and LaGuardia.

Oakland is located in northern Bergen County, New Jersey, 07436, and is surrounded by state parks, lakes, skiing, snowboarding, swimming and golfing facilities; and extensive hiking trails & campgrounds.  Bergen County NJ is home to the country's best medical facilities, schools, fine dining, shopping, cultural events & activities - all the best that life has to offer - and is just across the Hudson River from New York City.  Public transportation is provided by train and bus service to Manhattan, and the New Jersey shore is only an hour's drive away for beachgoers.
